PMRA is Copyright 2002,2004 by Michael W. Cocke  and released under the terms of the GPL 2.0

As features go, Netscape's roaming access was a great idea. The "roaming access" file transfers in Netscape 4.x were supposed to allow a user to access a bookmark file (among other things) from multiple computers, or from multiple operating systems on a single computer. The first problem was that the transfer apparently ran without any error detection or protection at all - over the course of time and transfers, the data became corrupted. The second problem was that the feature only made it into Netscape version 4.x - it's not available in earlier or later versions. The third problem was that Netscape's roaming access feature required a web server that was configured to be a roaming access server, requiring a special module that was never really debugged or released.. Not exactly easy to come by...

PMRA replaces the "roaming access" feature in Netscape 4.x and expands upon it, doing away with the roaming access server requirement and instead using a standard ftp server. This allows PMRA to use ftp transfers in binary mode for more error-resistant transfers. Please note that PMRA only supports portable bookmarks at this time, cookies, passwords, etc. are NOT transferred.

There are several ways to execute the PMRA code. PMRA may be interpreted using Activestate Perl for Windows, or a compiled .exe file is included in the archive.  PMRA for Linux requires Perl 5.8.0 or higher.

Support for OS/2 was dropped in PMRA 0.8 - if you need OS/2 support,  the previous version of PMRA is available on the authors web site.
Please note that the configuration file format has changed - you cannot mix configuration files from PMRA 0.5 and PMRA 0.8!  You CAN use PMRA 0.5 under OS/2 and PMRA 0.8 under linux and windows together, though.

Please see the Installation page for more details, and to download PMRA.
